CLAY FORMES

AN ANTHOLOGY & SURVEY AROUND CLAY AS ARTWORK IN SOUTH AFRICA

SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW CLOSED.

What is Clay Formes about?

The first of our printed Formes publications, the beginning of a series around three-dimensional form(e)s of art in South Africa. Clay Formes is the survey of a particular medium – clay – dedicated to local artists working with clay as artform.

This is an Open Call for artists.

In addition, we invite photographers & writers to contribute to the visual storytelling and written narrative around this particular medium. Submit photographs and written works (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, prose) exploring the idea of clay and objects made thereof – to help build an anthology around Clay Formes in South Africa.

What exactly is Clay Formes looking for?

WORKS OF ART
Submit up to three clay form(e)s – artworks made of clay/earth. The only prerequisite is the raw material itself.

Clay Formes is focusing on works that are sculptural in nature, and rather than being functional, stand alone as works of art.

WRITERS & POETS
Submit up to three original written works relating to the theme of clay whether it be fiction, non-fiction, poetry or prose (maximum of 1000 words each).

PHOTOGRAPHS
Submit up to three original photographs relating to the theme of clay/earth. Collaborative works between artists are welcome. Art Formes encourages the documentation of artists by other artists to bring fresh narratives on this medium.
